What a Truck Shop Puts a Uniform Through
Your shop needs workwear that can keep up with the floor. Independent heavy-duty truck repair shops, fleet maintenance garages, truck and trailer dealership service departments, agricultural and freight equipment shops, and mobile roadside service units put coveralls through conditions that ordinary laundry and workwear programs aren’t built to handle. In a single day, a tech can spend a shift under a frame rail, taking diesel, gear oil, brake dust, and road grime into the garment.
The problems add up quickly: coveralls washed at home and hauled back in a truck cab, grease a home machine can’t pull out, oil-soaked garments and rags stacked in a corner with no plan, sizes that never fit the new hire, and torn garments nobody replaces until the tech complains. Our professional coverall rental program takes those headaches off your shop’s plate, keeping technicians in properly fitted, professionally cleaned workwear that’s ready for the next shift.
Our Diesel and Truck Repair Uniform Program
- Sizing on site, including the size range a heavy-duty shop needs, with quick turnaround when a tech starts mid-week.
- Weekly laundering on industrial formulas built for diesel, gear oil, coolant, and grease, at temperatures and detergent loads a home machine cannot reach.
- Repairs for torn knees, blown seams, burned cuffs, and missing snaps through the Star Garment Repair® App: scan the barcode, photograph the damage, and the garment comes back fixed on the next delivery.
- Replacement of garments past repair, handled inside the weekly fee instead of a purchase order.
- Pickup and delivery on a set weekly schedule, with evening and weekend support through Service When You Need It®.

Where Home Washing and the Back-Room Machine Break Down
Grease and diesel do not belong in a home washing machine. What comes out is often a coverall that still smells like the bay, a home washer with a ring around the drum, and a tech who ends up buying his own work clothes because nobody else has a better answer. For truck and diesel repair shops that try to handle laundry in-house, the cost shows up in lost bay space, staff hours, and a washer and dryer that nobody is specifically assigned to maintain.
Oil-soaked garments and rags can pile up in a corner because nobody wants to own the decision about what happens to them. Meanwhile, techs may buy their own coveralls and wear them until they fall apart, leaving no consistent look across the bay. When employees leave, garments can walk out with them. Most shops have no reliable count of what left, what needs replacing, or what the workwear program actually cost them that year.
Our professional rental program puts the workwear responsibility where it belongs: with a service built to clean, maintain, track, and replace garments for demanding diesel and truck repair environments. That means fewer laundry headaches in the back room and a more consistent supply of ready-to-work coveralls on the shop floor.
Clean garments, tracked to the tech, on the same day, every week.
Why Truck & Diesel Repair Shops Choose U.S. Linen & Uniform
We have proven systems that work. Our Star Tracking System® uses both RFID and barcode, supported by computer-aided sorting and a bundle scanner to verify order accuracy. That means each tech gets their own garments back every time. And torn or burned garments come back repaired because our Star Garment Repair® App lets a shop send a photograph of a torn knee or burned cuff, so the garment can come back repaired on the next delivery. Finally, our industrial wash formulas clear diesel, gear oil, coolant, and grease from uniforms, ensuring your team always looks professional.
We are also the first and only company in the WA, OR, and ID service area to offer Service When You Need It®, providing evening and weekend support. With our No Surprises Billing & Inventory Plan®, shops pay a steady weekly fee with no surprise charges for unintentional loss, damage, turnover, garment prep, or standard names and emblems. On a five-year agreement, pricing changes just once a year.
Family-owned since 1944, U.S. Linen & Uniform runs routes to truck and diesel repair shops across Washington, Oregon, and Idaho, including Richland, Spokane, Yakima, Pendleton, Moses Lake, and Hillsboro.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does coverall and uniform rental work for a truck repair shop?
You pick the uniforms and linens for your business. We size your employees and then provide enough uniforms so each wearer will not run out of uniforms.
Can you get diesel, gear oil, and coolant out of a coverall, or do garments just get replaced?
Our cleaning formulas are powerful enough to remove the drips, splatters, and spills that occur on a shop floor. Garments that are past cleaning or repair are replaced inside the weekly fee.
How often do you pick up and deliver?
Each week, we’ll come to your place of business to pick up all the soiled linens and uniforms and deliver a fresh stock of laundered replacements.
Do you supply FR garments for welding and torch work in the shop?
Yes. Our FR line includes coveralls, work shirts, cargo pants, and jackets. Your shop selects the spec it requires, and we launder the garments under the Specialty Garment Maintenance Plan (SGMP) so they keep their rating.
Do you carry Enhanced Visibility garments for yard and roadside work?
Yes. We offer many specialty uniforms, including flame-resistant and enhanced visibility uniforms.
What sizes do you carry, and how fast can a new tech be fitted?
We size every tech on site, including the extended sizes a heavy-duty shop needs, and a tech who starts mid-week is fitted with a quick turnaround.
What happens when a coverall is torn, burned, or blown out at the seam?
Using our Star Garment Repair® App, you can inform us of any repairs that are needed. We can repair most damage to the garments.
Who pays when a garment is lost or a tech leaves?
Unintentional loss and employee turnover are covered under our No Surprises Billing & Inventory Plan®, so there is no surprise charge to the shop. Every garment also carries RFID and barcode identification through our Star Tracking System®, so we know where it is, whether it is being cleaned or repaired.
Can we put our shop name and each tech’s name on the garment?
Yes. The cost for all standard names and emblems is covered by our No Surprises Billing & Inventory Plan®. No surprise charges here.
Do you serve fleet maintenance shops and dealership service departments, or only independent repair shops?
We serve every company that needs uniforms, from small automotive shops to large fleet uniforms.

Consistently clean, well-fitted tech uniforms present a professional brand image that builds trust with customers and gives employees confidence and pride in their appearance. Standardized uniforms also support cleanliness and workplace standards, contributing to a safer, more organized automotive repair shop.
What a Managed Program Changes
Our managed uniform program gives truck and diesel repair shops consistency without adding another task to the shop’s workload. Every tech in the bay looks like they work at the same shop, whether they worked there for years or just one day. RFID tracking, in-house repairs, and managed garment par levels help reduce unnecessary replacement spend while keeping the right sizes and quantities in circulation.
Your shop gets its washer, dryer, detergent inventory, and laundry labor back. There’s no need for a service writer to order coveralls by the case or decide what to do with oil-soaked garments and rags. Grease and diesel leave the building on a delivery truck instead of in a tech’s car, freeing up bay and back-room space. And instead of an unpredictable workwear expense, the shop has a fixed weekly line item it can plan around.
